How Will My Care Be Paid For?

Every accident is different. Here are the most common situations we see. Call us and we'll walk through yours.

  • The other driver was at fault. Your care is generally the responsibility of the at‑fault driver's insurance.

  • If you have an attorney, we can  treat you on a lien / letter of protection so you don't pay up front.

  • You have Medical Payments (MedPay) coverage. MedPay on your own auto policy can pay for accident‑related care regardless of who was at fault, and using it typically doesn't raise your rates. 

  • The other driver was uninsured or underinsured. South Carolina requires uninsured motorist (UM) coverage on every auto policy, and many drivers also carry underinsured (UIM) coverage. Either may help cover your care.

  • You were at fault. Your own MedPay and/or your health insurance may cover your treatment. We'll help you check.
